Menu For Hope VI: Win Some Wine (and Other Great Stuff)

menu_for_hope_VI.jpgHow would you like to spend a week in Tuscany at a private villa, drinking aged Brunello di Montalcino, all the while knowing that you're enjoying the experience because you helped poor farmers in Africa? That, my friends, is the beauty of the charity event called A Menu For Hope.

This is the sixth year of A Menu For Hope, the grassroots charity event for wine and food bloggers that started in response to the horrible Tsunamis of 2004. Last year's event raised more than $60,000 for the UN's World Food Programme, which set up a special arrangement so that 100% of the proceeds went to the people we were trying to help.

This year we're doing the same thing. Helping the same people, the same way. By holding a big-ass charity raffle, with things to win donated from bloggers all around the world.

Here at Vinography, we're hosting all the items donated by wine bloggers, plus some very special things donated by folks who look kindly on this effort. Before I tell you about all the items on offer, however, you should know that winning a prize is as easy as making a $10 donation to our cause. Every ten bucks you donate gets you another "ticket" for the raffle. You designate which item you want to bid on, and then a computer program gives you that many chances to win in a random drawing. Donate $5000 and you've got 500 chances to win one, or many prizes.

Specific instructions for entering the raffle can be found at the bottom of this post. But let's get on with the items you can bid on, shall we? If you don't see something below that you think is worth ten bucks, then you're probably beyond hope yourself. Pay special attention to the bid item codes. You'll need them when you donate.

I can donate a private tour (hosted tour by me) in an open air Land Rover & VIP experiences with a B&B, restaurants, wineries and wine shops. Including a food & wine pairing experience. Alana,

We're happy to accept a prize if you've got one to offer, especially if it is fantabulous. Pull a sexy paragraph together describing it and get me a 200x200px image and we'll get it in the pot !!

Alder, just a quick comment. WB23 is listed twice for two different items, although if you read the full Torbreck excerpt, it does say to enter code "WB25" instead. Just wanted to point that out so you could save some confusion come bidtime!

Hi Alder,

Is there any chance that WB25, the Torbreck Magnum, could be available to Australian participants or are all of these prizes limited to the US only?

David,

I've talked with the winery, and yes, they are willing to extend it to Australian residents.
