The Big House and the Tower
PAUILLAC, FRANCE: The chateau and its namesake tower stand out against the bright evening sky at Chateau Latour in Pauillac, part of the Medoc region of Bordeaux’s so called Left Bank. Latour is one of the oldest and most prestigious of the Bordeaux First Growths according to the 1855 Classification, having been planted more or less continuously since the 14th Century. The estate’s namesake tower is tiny compared to the fortifications that stood on the site in the 13th and 14th centuries, and is actually a pigeon roost.
