Wine Country Fire
SANTA YNEZ, CA: Flames and billowing afternoon smoke, caused by the officially named Whittier Fire burning in the coastal mountains, create an eerie scene along Armour Ranch Road on July 8, 2017, near Santa Ynez, California. The 5,400 acre blaze began as a car fire on Highway 154 near Cachuma Lake and quickly spread over the mountains toward the ranches and community of West Goleta. California Wine Country is in the midst of another fire season, where the Kincade fire has scorched more than 25,000 acres and forced the evacuation of the towns of Healdsburg and parts of Windsor.
