The “before” shot. A field shining with flecks of the region’s characteristic schist lies prepped and ready for new vines under the mid-day Savennières sun in France’s Loire Valley. The neighboring plot peeks just over the crest of the hill under the bright blue skies of Spring. The Savennières AOC includes approximately 741 acres to host vines, but only about 380 acres are currently planted and actively producing the smoky, mineral Chenin Blanc wines that have made the region famous amongst Chenin Blanc lovers.
