The Alexander Valley is one of California’s least-appreciated winegrowing regions, sitting as it does in the proverbial shadow of its much more famous neighbor, Napa Valley. But Alexander Valley can grow Bordeaux grape varieties just as well as Napa, both on the valley floor as well as on higher elevations, such as Monument Ridge, which rise above the periodic fog layers, as shown here.
