Evening light catches the fiery Autumn colors of a vineyard in Temecula Valley. First planted in 1968, Temecula’s high-desert wine country is often overlooked by California wine lovers. Ninety minutes southwest of Los Angeles, the area now hosts more than 40 wineries. While Temecula has its share of tourist trap wineries, some serious wines are being made there by conscientious winemakers unafraid to explore more marginal sites.
