Vinography Images: The North

The Aconcagua Valley is known as one of Chile’s northern wine regions, but in a country that is 2650 miles from North to South, Aconcagua actually sits closer to the middle than the North. But just a couple of hours north of Santiago, the landscape already seems headed for the high desert, with more cacti than trees on the hills, and most greenery occupying the valley floors, as these vineyards do. The exception being the verdant-but-dusty avocado trees that carpet the vertiginous slopes of the surrounding mountains.
