Wild turkeys roam the vineyard rows at an early hour in the Hudson Vineyard in Carneros. One of California’s most famous sources of Chardonnay, Lee Hudson’s vineyard was purchased in 1979 and planted over the next decade. The roughly 200 acres of vines contain some of the state’s most sought-after Chardonnay and Syrah, but the plantings also include Grenache, Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc.
