Vinography Images: Pritchard Moon

A crescent moon rises, to be followed shortly by the dawn framed, by the vineyard rows at Brand Vineyards on Napa’s famed Pritchard Hill. Despite being long-recognized as one of the choicest pieces of terroir in Napa Valley, and being a relatively self-contained, separate spot looking down on the east side of Napa, Pritchard Hill has never been given its own AVA designation, and the wines must still be labeled as “Napa Valley.” This despite the fact that they are not so much in the valley as above it.
